Farm developments.
This week's look at Rangers prospects who may be pushing for a major-league job, for a 40-man roster spot, or for trade market discussion.
As I said last night, I’ve been working for a couple weeks on a deep-dive into the unconventional work Jack Leiter and the Rangers have done over the last year to get him to this point — but decided, once Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News rolled out a solid story on that very subject yesterday, to scrap it.
Two things on that:
One, several of you suggested in the Comments (or by direct message) that I should go ahead and write my Leiter story. I’m thinking about it. I’ve gathered the information, and just might.
Two, in the meantime, as an apology for not getting that story out sooner and so that the week isn’t devoid of an entry outside of the postgame “Three Up, Three Downs” and “Sunday Hops” staples, I thought I’d roll out an update on some of the more interesting developments on the farm. I may or may not do one of these each week, but I’m doing one today.
So here are some players who may be moving closer to one of three conversations: (1) a possible role with the big-league club, (2) consideration for a roster spot in November to avoid Rule 5 exposure, or (3) a boost in their potential trade value this summer.
