I’m not sure what it says about me that, after two local sports franchises (mis)managed to run me off in the last 10 months, something that had never happened to me in half a century of caring a whole lot about my teams, I’m willing to subject myself to a deep dive on the disaster, if not allow myself to get fully sucked in.

I bought Jimmy Johnson’s book right when it came out three years ago. I bought Tim MacMahon’s Luka book, and made sure to order the digital extra chapter since he’d published it just before February 1.

I don’t think it’s that I’m drawn to the train wreck. It’s not a tabloid addiction, or a weakness for irritainment.

It’s, I think, seizing on an opportunity to remember when things were good. When they were, at certain special times, great. When they were mine.
