Angels owner Arte Moreno chooses not to schedule getaway day games, and nobody in the league — including his own players — likes it. Tonight served him right.
Here’s the good news and bad news from tonight’s second scoreboard explosion in what was a really strong four-game series from the offense.
The good: this was another glimpse of what this lineup is capable of, and there are still 68 games left — and tonight’s win pushed the Rangers past the Angels in the Wild Card race, with only the Mariners now sitting between them and the final playoff spot.
The bad: even though the Rangers have a 106-run edge on the Angels in run differential . . . yeah, it took tonight’s win to push Texas past the Angels in the Wild Card race.
Two demolition wins and two narrow losses-that-probably-should-have-been-wins. Awesome for Pythagoras, not so much in the version of the standings that actually counts. Shame Texas could only manage a split.
But that was a very good game. A very good night game.
