Moreland to AA
The Rangers have promoted first baseman Mitch Moreland from Bakersfield to Frisco, but Justin Smoak is not on the move to make room. Outfielder Ben Harrison has been released to make room for Moreland on the RoughRiders roster. Moreland was leading the 10-team Cal League with 19 doubles and was among the league leaders in just about every other hitting category as well, hitting .341/.421/.594 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 43 Blaze games. The 23-year-old has yet to pitch this season, after a brief look on the mound last summer and again at Fall Instructs. Also, Frisco lefthander Joe Torres has been placed on the disabled list, and righthander Kea Kometani has returned from the extended spring training to take his place.
