Newberg Report Mailbag: Top 72 Rangers Prospects.
Answering your questions about the Texas farm system.
The six-part rollout of my Top 72 Rangers Prospects list, which lasted from March 30 through May 1, is complete (you can see the whole list in one place at the end of the final installment), and I figured — actually, I think one of you first suggested — it might be a good time, with a month or so of minor-league games in the books, that we open up a mailbag.
Honestly, it hasn’t been the most dynamic start on the farm, at least from the standpoint of prospects busting the door down. Some pitching injuries at the very top of the hierarchy certainly haven’t helped.
But — just like with the big club — it’s early. Patience is recommended, certainly with respect to player development. It takes time, and it’s rarely linear.
As for your questions, let’s get to 10 of them.
