Spitballing the Rangers' 2025, 2026, & 2027 rosters: Part 4 of a four-part series.
We're on to 2027, the culmination of this exercise — if not of this cycle.
Win or lose, teams turn over, and we’ve seen a lot of change in Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of this series, getting us to the 2026 Texas Rangers season. Among dozens who are gone are Nathan Eovaldi, Nathaniel Lowe, Leody Taveras, Dane Dunning, and Ezequiel Duran, plus Jack Leiter, Justin Foscue, Emiliano Teodo, Gleider Figuereo, Yeison Morrobel, and a host of other top prospects. In their place, more than half of the expected 26-man roster is new, including Roki Sasaki, Jesus Luzardo, and Kyle Tucker, while players like Ryan Helsley, Justin Turner, and Tommy Edman have come and gone. And we have a new manager.
Under our spitballed premise, the Rangers won another World Series in 2025, on top of which the core continues to include Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Jonah Heim, and Jacob deGrom, plus Wyatt Langford, Evan Carter, and World Series MVP Josh Jung moving toward their prime years. There is no thought yet of a retrenching; the goal is to sustain the build, not suspend it.
And once again, Texas is in the thick of things in 2026 as the trade deadline approaches. We ask the same question we considered at midseason in 2025: With many key players well into their 30s, how protective will Chris Young be in July 2026 with the organization’s future assets when opportunities arise to help the chase for a third World Series appearance in four years?
