The Rangers didn’t get a typical look at Caden Scarborough. But they got a better one than anyone else.
It’s a familiar part of the Caden Scarborough story arc: he’s a late bloomer. Late to pitching as a prep. Late on the scene his draft year. A late start to his pro career.
The 20-year-old has overcome all of that, and a good bit more.
The Rangers overcame being somewhat late to the party themselves, sitting now with one of the most exciting homegrown pitching prospects — certainly among those who’d been off the radar — that they’ve scouted, drafted, and developed in years.
It might all be happening with another organization had it not been for another newcomer.
