A weekly compendium emptying the bench, with Rangers developments, rumors, and takes — and yes, a little TROT COFFEY.

So much Texas this time of year. The Longhorns and Aggies reignited things last night in a classic demonstration of what makes sports amazing. SMU, like Texas, has moved on to a bigger and better football stage and decided to throw in its best season in decades. Not unlike the Rockets, who are really good again and, along with the Mavs, have joined the baseball teams in awakening a legitimate DFW rivalry that no longer needs to be manufactured. The Stars stand alone in the state in their sport, and are in a cycle where a Stanley Cup is probably the sole measure this year between meeting expectations and not.

Meanwhile, MLB’S GM Meetings were in San Antonio early in November, and the Winter Meetings will be here in Dallas in just over a week.

It feels like the kettles on the stove are headed toward a rolling boil.

On to this week’s Hops.
