Sunday hops, 12-22-24.
A weekly compendium emptying the bench, with Rangers developments, rumors, and takes — and yes, a little TROT COFFEY.
The calendar has flipped, and now we start to get a little more sunlight each day. We’re getting close.
Just like when you see a middle-rounds run on running backs in the NFL draft, or on quarterbacks in your fantasy draft, we tend to see the floodgates open on certain groups in baseball’s offseason. We’ve just gotten through a frenzied week at first base, with the music starting and stopping for most teams with a clear need there.
There hasn’t been a big run on high-leverage relievers yet. That’s coming, and maybe very soon. Texas will be involved.
We’ve got 52 sleeps until spring training. But the Rangers front office is very much wide awake and in full-time mode, because the roster the club will take to camp isn’t yet fully in place.
On to this week’s Hops.
