Sunday hops, 6-1-25.
A weekly compendium emptying the bench, with Rangers developments, rumors, and takes — and yes, a little TROT COFFEY.
The Rangers offense has had three objectively explosive games this season.
The first, a 15-2 smackdown of the A’s on April 29, was followed by four games in which the club scored 1, 0, 1, and 1 runs.
On the other hand, a May 10 drubbing of the Tigers in which the Rangers scored 10 times kickstarted a season-best six-game win streak, over which they averaged 5.2 runs.
But after Texas pounded the Cardinals, 11-1, on Friday, the encore was a 2-0 loss yesterday in which the offense mustered just four hits, the first two staying on the infield.
It’s almost formulaic: great starting pitching, little offense.
Still, today’s a chance to win a game and a series behind Jacob deGrom — and to continue working toward answers with the bats.
On to this week’s Hops.
