The trade deadline dominated our content over the last week, and now we — not unlike the baseball team — turn back fully to what’s happening on the field.
I posed this a week ago, two days short of the deadline:
I ask this without a shred of sarcasm or snark; it’s a genuine question I have.
When Chris Young sits around the conference room table this morning with his inner circle of advisors, maybe Zooming others in, and asks: “Can this team win this year?” — what is the consensus? What’s the cold, hard evaluation, not the rose-colored-glasses version?
It’s certainly a question the group has considered well before July 28, but the calendar being where it is, it’s one that’s surely being revisited regularly.
