The Newberg Report

The date is 3-3.

Which means it’s time to write . . . something.

This weekend, I watched a Severance episode two times, and a pair of Saturday Night Live documentaries for the second time each as well. I listened to Kendrick Lamar’s GNX for what has to be close to the 100th time — which is probably a tenth of the number I’m at on some albums that have been in my wheelhouse much longer.

I’ve watched Season 1 of The Bear three times. And Episodes 6 and 7 of Season 2 more than that. I read Levi Weaver’s non-baseball writings religiously, some entries multiple times over multiple days. It took many listens to a specific song by Kendrick and many listens to a specific song by George Strait, about four years apart, to recognize a (genius) moment of similarity between the two that I trust nobody else is warped enough to have ever thought about.

Why do I keep going back to all of these? It’s not because I had forgotten or missed parts. I think it’s just because I wanted to relive the think.

I think.

But I don’t seek out rewatching ballgames.

Ever.

I haven’t even watched Game 1 or Game 5 again.

Why?
