I hinted at something I saw this afternoon that I knew was going to tee up a nighttime COFFEY. It’s not news, per se — if it were, we’d know it by now — but TROT COFFEY, by definition (Trade Rumor Offerings To Chew On For Fun, Even Yuks), is generally where we aggregate (and, where it’s called for, comment on) rumors or percolating developments that have been floated by arguably reputable sources.

And I saw one of those in the middle of the afternoon that I would very much like to comment on.
