What you wish for.
The frontburner question that we're all confronted with today is which team we want to see win tonight's Game Five in Yankee Stadium, to determine the Rangers' Saturday ALCS opponent (and site). Focus on what your gut's telling you. Then think about ignoring it. Last year, did you want New York or Minnesota in the ALCS? This year, did you want Tampa Bay or Boston in the ALDS? Did you want Philadelphia or San Francisco in last year's World Series? Chances are lots of us wanted the Twins rather than the Yankees, and the Red Sox rather than the Rays, but those series worked out just fine anyway. And I bet most of us wanted the Giants rather than the Phillies, and got our wish. At least until the games were played. All I want is an intense game between the Yankees and Tigers tonight, maybe even a couple extra innings. And then bring on the survivor. Nobody gets a cake walk all the way to the White House. I don't care which team wins tonight and who Texas plays next. Partly because the last 12 months have given us some "careful what you wish for" file material, and partly because the Rangers are capable of beating anybody if they play their game, short series or long, and what my gut is telling me is that's what's important right now, not who the next opponent will be. #3extrahangers #2extrahangers
